I am stunned at how good this stylus sounds. I don't have "golden ears" or the language to describe it, but the sound is brighter, cleaner and I can hear deeper into the music, if that makes sense. I was afraid that I might regret not spending more to get the S or R, but right now I am very happy with this. Thans you for an excellent piece of work!
This is an excellent stylus, loads of detail and a very good sound. Nicely made and delivery time was excellent. Highly recommended.
A new wonderful sound for my ears with your stylus! My compliments and thank you a lot.
I didn't know records could sound this perfectly musical. This stylus is a work of art. Just ordered a second one so I'll be able to use a Jico SAS for many years to come.Thank you!
Great! I replaced my HE Needle ( ca 50 hours ) with the SAS Boron and it's sounding way better. Sound is similar to my AT 150 MLX. Very good. Support, Price and Quality is excellent. Thank you, Jico Team .
I didn't know that the value of $ 199 could create this new sound.
It makes a lot of desire to listen to music really enjoyable.
Thank you for making such a good product and
looking forward to your continued development.
Astonishing. This is my 2nd Jico stylus for my Shure V15-MR. The liquid, seamless sound quality I'm hearing suggests that Jico has improved upon this product from even its previous version. I'm running the cart in a VPI HW-19jr at 1.25 grams (total downforce). I do strongly suggest you rebalance your Cart, check your anti-skate, and use Shure's stylus alignment gauge, as applicable, to get the best sound.
This is my second stylus of this type from JICO and they’ve had this one for some time...and clearly they’ve perfected their art. I know it’s cliche to say this, but going with the SAS stylus is truly putting the V15-V on steroids. It’s difficult to image how much better the ruby or diamond cantilevers would be versus the boron...but I suspect the boron is more impervious to (accidental) rough handling. I’m listening to a Quadraphonic copy of Steely Dan’s Can’t Buy A Thrill and there’s a tambourine in the left channel that sounds like it’s hanging in a space all its own...each instrument individualized yet part of a whole. WOW.
Even better than original, dinamics and detail at maximum level
I like the V15 sound. I bought a Jico SAS
WOW night and day with the original one! more detail sound stage more precision . At this price, it is a no brainer !
Many thanks Jico !
I own the Technics EPC-100C MkIV, which is likely the greatest MM cartridge ever made (absolutely flat response past 85 KHz, and -3 db past 95 KHz, all from a MM !). There are no more replacement styli available, so I use it VERY sparingly! Because of this, I have searched for a replacement that sounds as good. The JICO VN5MR installed in my V15-V MR is DEFINITELY the closest I have come. In fact, the JICO actually has more tonal color than the 100C MK IV, and slightly better bass. It is VERY sensitive to VTA and Azimuth, and has to be "spot on". But when it's really aligned well, it is an amazing device. Incredible detail and naturalness at the same time !
I disagree with them, who saying this is as good as the original. It is much better than the original, more musical, more juicy, more involved, more detail, more..in every aspect! But you need a very good system to get and listen to the differences. More better the system, much better the experience. I am thrilled!
Beyond every expectation!
This stylus performs at least as well as the original Shure VN5MR. I haven't tested it on Tchaikovski's 1812 in the Telarc version with real cannons yet, but on normal records it tracks impeccable, producing a very natural and well balanced sound, without any harsh effects.
Jico as a company has a fully professional approach to customers, with good and clear communication and good support.

Jico as a company works in a very professional way that gives you confidene in them. Very good communication, and prompt response on questions.
Highly recommended
Ciao, I have received the stylus at last w.e., I'm confused, they sounds almost better of my great Benz Ruby 3H ..... I'm very happy. Thank you!!!!
Back when Shure announced they were discontinuing the V15VxMR, I bought the cartridge, and three OEM replacement styli. I'm on my 3rd OEM stylus now, but between the 2nd and 3rd one, I tried the JICO.
I like it a lot! One tends to overemphasize differences between two components when one is reviewing, so let me say from the beginning their sound is more similar than different-they are roughly at the same level.
The JICO is slightly more crisp, detailed, with a bit finer articulation than the OEM Shure. It sounds like its treble is more extended, and tipped up slightly, compared to the OEM. Tracking is excellent with both, with NO end of side mistracking, but I think the JICO has a slight advantage on tracking.
The OEM Shure sounds slightly softer, rounder, fuller, smoother. Kind of like the dif between a really good SS amp, and a good tube amp, with the JICO being slightly more SS like.
I can live with either, but in my system, the OEM Shure is a better match. Plus the OEM Shure lasts longer than the JICO. I can get 2-3 years out of it, the way I play. 400-500 hrs is about tops with the JICO, just like they say.
That said, when the time comes, I'm going to order another JICO, especially since the OEM Shure is now out of production. I'm now in no hurry to try a pricier MC...the $199 Shure does very well, with high quality replacement styli like JICO makes. Thanks, JICO!
Excellent sound quality!!!
The sound is quite similar to the quality which can be taken by the original stylus from Shure (I have one NOS).
The sound is more clear and detailed if the proper tracking force is setted up.
The quality is MUCH more sensitive to the tracking force! The difference of 0.2 gr gives COMPLETELY different sound. From very light and accurate with light weight (1gr) up to not acceptable on a 1.2 gr...
Very sensitive pice of art!!!
Thanks!
I bought a VN5MR (SAS) from JICO. The product ia perfect. I dare to say that it is better quality than the original from Shure.
The service from JICO was very correct and prompt. Absolutely to recommend for anyone like me who was in trouble with out of production needles. Thanks.
I've just installed the new replacement stylus for my Shure V15V-MR and spent the last few hours listening to records. I'm impressed! My records have never sounded better. The detail is stunning. I highly recommend this stylus. Excellent product, JICO! Long may you prosper.
When I bought it last January, I didn't satisfied with it's sound very much like other reviewers. BUT today I'm actually able to say this stylus is wonderful thing.
I'm using it with Technics sl1200mk2, creek OBH-18MM phono amp and I have another gear - VPI Scout, Denon DL160 with ElectroCompaniet Phono. I think SAS v15vmr is more powerful and precise than denon DL160. hmm, dust easily gathers on VN5MR compare to original stylus. this is only one waht I want to say to JICO to make it better than now. Thanks JICO
Excellent fit and performance on the P-mount V15-V-SR found on the Revox B791. Fits like a factory stylus. No ugly wobble or overhang like the V15-III stylus. Really superb. Still breaking it in, but trackability, linearity, output, FR, balance & crosstalk are all excellent across 4 different test records. Sound is right up there with the best I've heard. Strong output, so very low noise. Balanced, good depth.
All I can say is I am glad to find this stylus. It improves upon a great stylus and upholds it's "budget reference" status. The lows sound cleaner and tighter not as "plumy" as the original. The midrange is superb and the highs sound more pristine and transparent.
Check out Freddie Hubbard's trumpet on Stanley Clark "If this bass could only talk" LP. Incredible highs, he must be hitting a double high c or even higher. I used to play trumpet and can really appreciate the sound.
Kudos to Jico for this superb stylus.
This is the third stylus profile I have used in my Ultra 500, having the original hyper eliptical, then the Micro Ridge VN5MR and now the Jico SAS version VN5MR. Both numbers 2 and three were an improvement over the already good HE stylus. The SAS takes the Shure VN5MR to the next level in detail, transparency and dynamics. Running through an all-tube phono preamp, I'm in no rush to get back to my low output moving coils. I just ordered another SAS to have as a backup. Well done, Jico.
This stylus sounds at least as good as my original Shure stylus....and maybe the highs sound even better. I have not conducted an A/B test, however. Note that the weights are a bit different with the new brush weighing apparently .3 grams rather than .5. So, to track at 1gm you would set your downforce to 1.3gm using the brush.
What can I say. This is an amazing stylus. My records have come alive. The sound quality is much superior to the original Shure stylus. Your staff at JICO should be proud of themselves for producing such an amazing product. Thank You L. Mann
